Balance
Our uniquely flexible program is available to students in Year 7 (with the option to continue in Years 8 and 9) and operates in two pathways – a Maths and Science pathway and Humanities & Social Sciences pathway. Students may access one or both pathways depending on their academic needs and continued progress. This aspect of the program differentiates it from the Department of Education and Training’s affiliated GATE program.
Selection
The process of entry into the Academic Extension Program is based on the results of a selection test which is conducted at Ocean Reef Senior High School.

Applications for the Academic Extension Program for Year 7 2025 are now open. Students residing inside our local intake area are eligible to apply.
