The NAPLAN testing window for 2026 will take place from Wednesday 11 March to Monday 23 March 2026 (inclusive). During this period, students in Year 7 and Year 9 at Ocean Reef Senior High School will complete the assessments online.

Students will complete tests in Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation), and Numeracy. Testing will occur during normal school hours according to the schedule provided below.

Students will complete the tests online using their own devices. Please ensure that devices are fully charged and ready for use on the day of testing. Some tests also require headphones, so students should bring their own.

NAPLAN Information for Parents and Carers

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is a national assessment undertaken by students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia. The assessment provides a snapshot of how students are developing key literacy and numeracy skills.

The tests assess student learning in:

• Reading
• Writing
• Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
• Numeracy

NAPLAN forms one part of a school’s broader assessment program. It helps schools and families better understand how students are progressing and provides additional information that can support teaching and learning.

Most students complete NAPLAN online, using a variety of question types. The online format can adapt to student responses, allowing the assessment to measure achievement across a wide range of abilities.

Students are not expected to undertake special preparation for NAPLAN. Parents can support their child by encouraging them to approach the assessments calmly and simply do their best.
