Student Attendance, Visitor Access and Early Departure Arrangements
Attendance is compulsory. The carnival is a key school event that promotes school spirit, wellbeing, inclusivity, and opportunities for students to celebrate effort and support their peers. As part of the school’s educational program, regular classes will not operate on this day.

Students are expected to attend the carnival for the entire day unless prior arrangements have been made. As the carnival is being conducted as a student-only event, family attendance and general visitor access will not be available. Students approved for an early departure will be accompanied to the Student Services gate for collection.

To assist with any genuine need for early departure, please note the following:

• If your child has an appointment that requires them to leave early on 28 August, please enter the absence in Compass before the day of the event so arrangements can be made.
• To minimise disruption to the carnival, we ask families not to respond to student requests to leave early unless there is an urgent or pre-approved reason.
• All early departure requests must be lodged via Compass. Requests made by students during the day cannot be approved without parent/carer notification through the appropriate process.
• If your child is unwell, school staff will contact you directly.

Students are encouraged to remain engaged in the event and support their faction and peers throughout the day.

Food and Beverages
Students may bring their own food and drinks or purchase from food trucks on the Oval:

• Chips on a Stick – items from $9.50 (chips, nachos, drinks etc see attached menu in Connect)
• Hot Jam Donuts – jam or chocolate, $3.50 / $4.00 each
• Boost Juice – all items $9.50

Please note: the canteen will be closed, and students are not permitted to order food from external delivery services.

STUDENT INFORMATION
Clothing and Equipment

• Students are strongly encouraged to wear House colours or their school PE shirt.
• Be prepared for wet weather (ponchos, rain jackets, etc.) or sunshine (sunscreen, hat and water bottle).
• Keep bags with you throughout the day. Please do not bring valuables.
• Year 12s – bring your energy and creativity in your best fancy dress costumes to make the day unforgettable!

Start of Day instructions

• When the siren sounds at 8.55am, all students to move to their homeroom class for roll marking. Homeroom Teachers will then provide further instructions.

Event Information

• Students may enter as many events as they wish but must compete in their year group.
• Placing is based on overall year group results, not heats.

Behaviour Expectations

• Normal school rules apply (e.g. Off and Away All Day for mobile phones).
• As with all school activities, students are expected to demonstrate their best behaviour.
• Students who do not meet behaviour expectations will be withdrawn from the carnival.

First Aid

• Students will be referred to the first aid officers if needed.
• Parents will be contacted if necessary, or an ambulance called in an emergency.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPETITORS
Areas

• Competitors are to remain with their year groups during rotations and move into House areas during the 100m and relay events.

Field Events

• All competitors will have two jumps/throws.
• The top 12 competitors may be allowed a third attempt, depending on time.

Sports Tracker
Families will be able to track results throughout the day via Sports Tracker.
Final Carnival results will not be available on the day, as some competitor events will take place following the main Carnival program.
